Do to our current budget status the Northwest Indiana Solid Waste District Cities and Towns Grant Program has been discontinued as of June 5, 2014.

School Equipment Purchase Grant 2016

The Northwest Indiana Solid Waste District is offering this opportunity to schools in Benton, Carroll, Jasper, Newton, Pulaski and White Counties to purchase recycling equipment to start a new program or add to an existing program. Schools may submit grant requests for up to $1000. Grant funds are to be used to purchase equipment to assist in your recycling program. The following is a list of equipment you may need: Scales, Bins, Rolling carts or Toters, Storage Equipment, gloves or other items.

School Recycling Contest February 2017

The Northwest Indiana Solid Waste District will conduct a District-wide recycling contest. Schools of Northwest Indiana Solid Waste District from Benton, Carroll, Jasper, Newton, Pulaski and White Counties will compete against each other. The school that recycles the most pounds of recyclable material per student will win $5,000. $2,000 will be awarded for second place and $1000 to the third place winner. Winning schools may use their funds as they wish. Educational materials, bus trips, convocations, or something entirely different, your school decides what the prize money will be used for.

Recycling Market Development Program

The state of Indiana has released a total of $600,000 to IDEM’s Recycling Market Development Program. This money will be made available through grants to aid private businesses purchase equipment specifically needed to remanufacture recyclable materials into finished products or industrial feedstocks.
